My Testimony of the Gospel of John
I wrote this about ten years ago but like to share it especially to strengthen one's Christian faith (even though it does have some insight strongly influenced by my particular denomination's view on the subject matter). I hope it may give out a positive influence (including as I was inspired to share it due to studying John I in sunday school today):
As I a week ago completed reading the four Gospels from front to back concluded that John is now my favorite Gospel, replacing Matthew as my favorite Gospel. It seems that John is indeed special and unique. Including that they made a movie about it and Gordon B. Hinckley once said to especially read the Gospel of John when reading the New Testament. Now I finished reading it, I can understand now. Because John's Gospel emphasized how Jesus is actually a selfless servant and proxy for Heavenly Father or God. Or how he's actually here to do his Father's will, not his own. Which makes me feel good and thereby able to trust Jesus more, because I may not like it being the opposite otherwise. The Book of John also shows clear evidence for the concept of the Godhead, or that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are separate beings, which indeed they really are. Also emphasized on the concept of love, through things like keeping the commandments and Christ's love for us. Reading it was inspiring and help build my testimony more significantly then the three other Gospels. I therefore would recommend this Gospel to people, for it can inspire and strengthen your testimony like it did mine. I believe that the events that happen in the Book of John did actually happen in real life; and that John, the Beloved Disciple, still continues to live on the earth as a preaching translated being. I found it interesting that he's still alive and living life to the fullest. I testify that he's also the writer of the John Epistles and the Book of Revelation. There was surely no namesake who wrote them, only the great John the Apostle. John was truly a magnificent and faithful apostle of the Lord, and lived a full & insightful mortal life. His Gospel emphasized too of how Christ has divine blood and God's only begotten son. Even the three other Gospels testify, in some form or another, of how Christ was surely different, special, and unique. This Gospel is unique because it contains mostly original material. My favorite stories are some of the wonderful advice Jesus gave to his apostles right before his death, when he appear to them right after his resurrection and the raising of Lazarus from the dead. As I believe that the most heartwarming story of the four Gospels and the greatest miracle of all is the resurrection of Jesus. It shows that now everyone has the potential to be brought back from the dead, permanently. His resurrection brings me a form of hope and comfort (:, in a death and tragic full world. For I believe that John can surely indeed convert you, inspire you, and strengthen your testimony. For I say all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
P.S., You can call on the Holy Ghost, through prayer, to help you discern and teach you as you try to study and read John's Gospel.
